The Village pulls through a very difficult year on its way to restoring long term financial sustainability
is a real nice puff piece. But did you notice not many "facts" were presented in this article.
Lets examine some of the smoke and mirrors by the Ridgewood Blog
Mr. Gabbert said "In 2011, we entered the year down 14 percent in total staff from a year earlier and working from a tighter budget than prior years."
If the Village has 200 employees a 14% reduction would be about 28 employees. If the average pay with benefits for those 28 employees is $80,000.00 then the 2011 budget would have had an additional $224,000.00 over the previous years budget in salary savings alone. But then you have to consider the tax increase from 2010 to 2011.
2010 Total Budget $41,825,453.14
2011 Total Budget $44,432,007.66
The property tax increase and taxes raised by fees represents a 6.23% raise in 2011. I am sure that many other town administrators that worked to meet the mandate by Governor Christie to only raise taxes by 2% would have loved to work with 6.2% increase. So Mr. Gabbert only had an additional $2,605,725.73 to work with, until we add the money from the 28 employees that were gone from 2010 then Mr. Gabbett had $2,829,725.73 over the 2010 budget. What were they saying about such a tight budget?
The article went on to defend Mr. Gabbert by saying...The Village manager was in the hot seat most of the year creating a lot of controversy working on cleaning up the financial mess created over the last 15 years.
The biggest things Mr. Gabbert was in the hot seat for were his unjustifiable and unwarranted 12% raise and his failure to do his job during the October snow storm. Yes, when you look at the facts Mr. Gabbert is not as the Ridgewood Blog would have you believe, a good Village Manager.

Looks like the Yellow Blog bought themselves a big old manure spreader.....
Gabbert is anything but a good manager
They are trying to put lipstick on a pig. Still a pig.
I heard that Gabbert just applied for the borough manager job in Ramsey. Is it true?
Was that article suppose to be funny? It sure ain't true
I can't help but wonder how much Killion and Gabbert paid to get that bit of fiction posted on the Yellow Blog?
I would like to use a Quote by Colonel Sherman T Potter from the TV series M.A.S.H.to describe the Ridgewood Blogs article.....
Horse Hockey!
Hey Boyd,
I see the photo in the article has your name on it, I sure hope it wasn't you who wrote that crap!
5:59 pm your right and they are spreading the manure from the Habernickel farm!
Boyd, Boyd, Boyd. Thats very disappointing.
Gabbert worked on cleaning up the financial mess created over the last 15 years.
Nothing like trying to play the blame game.
Gabbert is so incompetent they have to make up these stories blaming everyone before Gabbert for everything,to try to make him look good. Sorry NO SALE!
Ridgewood Residents ain't that dumb. Tell your story walking Foytlin
It's time for a new Village Manager and a new Village Council.
The Gabbert/Killion record is one of the worst in the Villages history.
1)An unprecedented 12% increase in Village Manager's salary, giving Gabbert an annual salary of $185K -- more than the Governor's salary of $175K.
2) retroactive salary increases for top Village management -- probably the only retroactive increase throughout the entire U.S. since the economic crisis began in 2007.
3) An unprecedented 7% tax increase by the Village Council during a recession.
4) A Village Manager who was AWOL during one of the worst storms in over a century.
5) A storm clean-up many considered worse than any in recent memory.
word on the streat is that gabbert's raise has something to do with a little secret he is keeping for tom "benedict" riche.
that article alone proves you can't believe what you read on the yellow blog
Don't forget about all the civil service appeals filed against the village manager too
Mott of the Yellow Blog: We Distort, You Comply
